Third Live Harness Racing Meet Set At Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel

Live Harness Racing returns to Oak Grove from October 17-December 6 with an increase in daily purse average over $100,000

Harness racing fans mark your calendars. Post times and dates have been announced for the third live harness racing meet at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel.

Live harness racing returns to the 5/8-mile track in Oak Grove on 20 select dates in October, November and December. Post times are 12:30pm Central Time each race day. Standardbred trotters/pacers will compete on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from October 17 through November 9 and Sundays and Mondays from November 14 to December 6. Admission and parking for fans is free.

“We are excited to welcome back live harness racing to southwestern Kentucky for a third straight year,” said David Boehm, Senior Director of Racing & Gaming Operations at Oak Grove. “Purses continue to grow at Oak Grove too, where this year will have a daily purse average over $100,000 for the first time.”

Part of the live harness racing action this season will be an Early Closing Series with $15,000 Elimination and $25,000 Final. Elimination races will take place on Sunday, October 24 with the finals on Sunday, October 31.

In addition to the live racing, Oak Grove has several special theme days and events in the works for the meet. Trucks at the Track, a food truck festival, will highlight opening day from 11am-4pm on Sunday, October 17. A thank you to our Veterans and Active Duty Military is being planned in conjunction with the USO Fort Campbell and Nashville for November. Churchill Downs Incorporated broke ground in April 2019 on the $200 million racing, gaming and entertainment facility off I-24 Exit 86 in Oak Grove, Kentucky.

Over 1,300 state-of-the-art historic racing machine (HRM) games make up the gaming floor with themes from Ainsworth, Scientific Games, International Gaming Technology (IGT) and Konami companies. The restaurants include Garrison Oak Steakhouse, O’Dark Thirty Coffee House and quick serve eateries Lucky Lime Tex Mex and SGT. Peppers Po’Boys and Burgers.

In addition, the property’s 128-room hotel and 30 slip RV Park are available to racing fans and horsemen. Stabling for the entire meet is available for $150 per month per stall. Stall applications and more information are available on www.oakgrovegaming.com.
